Biography
Libera Pisano is Assistant Professor of Modern Philosophy at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona). She received her PhD in Theoretical Philosophy from Sapienza University of Rome in 2014.
She has held research positions at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, the University of Hamburg, Humboldt University of Berlin, and the University of Calabria, and was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at UPF.
Her research focuses on modern philosophy, German-Jewish thought, philosophy of language, translation, exile, identity and the theological-political dimensions of community. She has published extensively on Mendelssohn, Hegel, Landauer, Rosenzweig, Benjamin and Susman.
Her latest monograph, The Exile of Language: German-Jewish Philosophical Challenges to Linguistic Autochthony, was published by Brill in 2025.
